Home Delivered Meals and Congregate Nutrition
Both the Home Delivered Meals (HDM) and Congregate Nutrition Programs are funded by the Home and Community Care Block Grant. Each program provides 1/3 of the daily recommended nutrition for older adults.
Home Delivered Meals are distributed each weekday to approximately 160 older adults in Craven County. To be eligible, an individual must be at least 60 years of age, unable to prepare a nutritious meal for his or her self, and homebound. Congregate Nutrition provides the same meal to seniors who are able to attend the senior center. To be eligible, an individual must be at least 60 years of age. For more information, contact the Congregate Nutrition Coordinator at (252) 638-1790

Craven County Senior Services offers several Health Promotion - Evidence Based programs:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Opportunities are available to help older adults and other members of the community stay active. Volunteers deliver meals to the homebound, help serve food at congregate meal sites, lead recreational programs, and help with special events. Currently need MOW drivers to fill in several routes.
